COVID-19: Ten tools you can use at home (© Knot II Bragg Farm 4/5/2020)

As of 4/5/20 Maine news article

“The Maine Center for Disease Control announced 14 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Sunday, and no new deaths, for a total of 470 confirmed cases.”  (*note* 156 have gotten better and gone home)

The following information is at the end of the Maine news article on the COVID-19 cases in Maine:
A little over 2 percent of patients were under 20,
while 9.1 percent were in their 20s,
8.5 percent were in their 30s,
17 percent were in their 40s,
19.8 percent were in their 50s,
21.5 percent were in their 60s,
13.6 percent were in their 70s,
and 8.1 percent were 80 or older.

Please consider the following:
2020 Population of the state of Maine –              1.35M
2020 Population of the United States –           331M
      2020 Population of China –                          1,408.5M

The difference on the WORLD map of COVID-19(see item#10 below) between 4/3/20(Friday) & 4/5/20(Sunday):
      Location               4/3/20                   4/5/20                   difference
      US –                    273, 409                331,889                58,480
      China –                  81,620                   81,669                      49

With a population of over 1.4 billion people versus the population of the United States 331 million people (4.255 times our population) the Chinese people have obviously found a way to impede the progress of this virus.  They have shared their information on what to do with their people, and we need to share that very same information with our people so that we can protect ourselves and our families.

Other than following the CDC’s recommendations on how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 there are additional things you can do to protect you and your family from this virus.

Firstly, if you think you have the symptoms of the virus, know that this is the normal cold & flu season.  (9 out of 10 cases that are tested for COVID-19 test negative.)  So please don’t panic – instead follow these 10 key points.

  1. Use universal precautions: Stay home / wash hands, use social distance
  2. Use  onion   therapy   natural  anti - viral  and  anti- bacterial
  3. Use the planks of health/ 4-horsemen to keep your immune system strong
  4. Use sinus oil (Old Log Driver's sinus Oil 1/2 oz.)in your nose or Vicks to coat the inside of your nose
  5. Drink hot liquids, every ½ hour - during waking hours
  6. Have rubbing alcohol and water 50/50 to bring down fever if you have one.(Sponge on)
  7. Do not use Ibuprofen & Advil (these excite the virus – 10 times worse) acetaminophen is acceptable.
  8. Hot dry air can kill the virus in the lungs,  ( Clear plastic bag and a hair dryer ) 5 minutes each hour
  9. These are some things we can all do, be prepared and fight back
  10. Call and check on friends and family, let them know you are thinking of them, it will make it easier on everyone.

As a practicing traditional village herbalist since 1966 (over 50 years) many people have approached me regarding their concerns about COVID-19 and how they can protect themselves from it.  And believe it or not, some of the older methods of healing seem to work really well in this case.  So, I’m going to give you the tools that you need to help protect yourself and your friends & families.  You’ll be surprised as to how much of this you already have in your homes.  This doesn’t come with a guarantee but it’s better than waiting for a boogeyman to come out of the closet.

Hundreds of my clients as well as nursing homes, hospitals, doctors and nurses have contacted me for my input.  And based on science and experience these are the tools that can help guide you through this worrisome time.

1:  Use universal precautions:  Stay home / wash hands, use social distance

The first of the 10 suggestions should go without saying – normal health protocol should be a given.  The CDC recommends washing your hands, and every normal human being knows that washing your hands after using the restroom is normal health protocol.  It is important to keep clean while away from your home.  The important thing to know is that this virus is protected by an "envelope" of fat.  Once this layer of fat is dissolved this virus is easily destroyed.  It's also important to know that simply using soap and water will kill this virus.  Click here to see why soap works in killing the virus

Use social distancing, use vinyl (or similar-like neoprene) gloves when handling foreign objects (like money).  However, while in your own home, it is not necessary to wash your hands 20 times a day.  This can cause a secondary problem with sore chapped hands and increases the potential for infection.  So use good judgment with this practice.

2:  Use  onion   therapy   natural  anti - viral  and  anti- bacterial.  Remember this is the normal cold & flu season.  (9 out of 10 cases that are tested for COVID-19 test negative.)  So please don’t panic.  Instead, if you happen to have sore throat, runny nose, or cough, first use the onion therapy described here.

3:  Use the planks of health/ 4-horsemen to keep your immune system strong.  The best defense is a good offense.  Having your immune system at peak performance will keep almost any issue at hand.  If you have not been using the planks of health, or are not aware of it – then your immune system is most likely not at peak.  To get it to peak performance you can use a combination of zinc/Echinacea/vitamin C (it’s chewable lozenges) and can be purchased online (nature’s way or sundown both are good brands).  3 per day for 3 days (with meals) will bring you right back to where you’re supposed to be.

4:  Use sinus oil (Old Log Driver's sinus Oil 1/2 oz.) or Vicks to coat the inside of your nose.  This is not to promote my product, rather to recommend things that work.  The sinus oil is a 1910 formula and Vicks is 1935.  Both have stood the test of time as a decongestant and an antihistamine.  If you are going out of your house you need one of these products in your nose to deter access for the virus.  In addition, the sinus oil has antibiotic properties - you only need one drop per nostril to be effective.

5:  Drink hot liquids, every ½ hour - during waking hours.  So, if after applying onion therapy the scratchy throat still exists, perform heat treatment on your throat.  Drink a hot fluid every half hour.  The hot liquid can be anything from hot water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate.  The fluid must be hot enough to kill the virus.  Typical temperature of a hot coffee/tea will do.  This is a preventative measure.  The virus can be killed with hot liquids in the body (specifically in the throat).

COVID-19 is a heavy virus – it can’t “walk” on its own, it needs to be carried – by hand to mouth/nose/eyes.  When we touch a surface that has the virus on it, we carry it from place to place.  Some of our most noted doctors in the limelight have stated that we touch our face over 3000 times a day.    Once we touch our face the virus has access to us.  The first indication of this virus is that of a scratchy throat.  It stays on the back of the throat and slowly builds up enough strength to makes its way to the lungs.  In the worst case scenario the virus takes approximately 3 days to make its way from the throat to the lungs.  Once in the lungs it is in an environment where it easily and quickly replicates itself.  Our best scientists have informed us that the corona virus molecule has an outside layer of fat that protects the actual virus.  If you can melt that layer it is possible to kill the virus with heat, both in the throat and in the lungs.  This appears to be the virus’s Achilles heel.  So melt the fat layer and kill the virus.

6:  Have rubbing alcohol and water 50/50 to bring down fever if you have one.(Sponge on)  If you spike a fever, this home remedy that has been used forever will help to reduce a fever.  Using a formula of 50% water and 50% rubbing alcohol on a hand towel or a wash cloth, sponged on the patient, the alcohol drying on the skin will bring down a fever.  This remedy can be used to reduce any fever – whether from COVID-19 or any other virus/flu.

7:  Do not use Ibuprofen & Advil (these excite the virus – 10 times worse) acetaminophen is acceptable.

    1. Refer to this link from Harvard Health EDU
    2. Seek out this section in that site for their recommendations:
Is it safe to take ibuprofen to treat symptoms of COVID-19?

8:  Hot dry air can kill the virus in the lungs,  (Clear plastic bag and a hair dryer) 5 minutes each hour.  If we happen to lose the battle we need to build a dry air "sauna".  Already there is a shortage of supplies and critical people need protection.  The best bet is to build a tent out of clear plastic so that you can see the person in the tent, supply hot dry air (which can be supplied by a hair dryer - be sure to keep it away from flammable items).  A sauna would work well too as long as it is a dry heated air and you do not overdo the therapy.  Be sure to use a dry hot air, NOT moist hot air.  Also be sure to not overdo this procedure, 3-5 minutes an hour is ample.

A hot dry air will melt the protective fat layer from the corona virus.  Because this virus is so sensitive to heat, it makes sense to use a homemade heating apparatus to defeat the virus in the lungs.  Because we’re “make do Mainers”, it seems to me every home has a big clear plastic bag and a hair dryer.  And if breathing hot air will kill the virus from the lungs it seems we can do this.  China has utilized this process with greater success than with the ventilators themselves.  So, I understand that this is used 5 minutes out of every hour.  Breathing hot air is adequate enough MAYBE to save somebody’s life – if there is no other alternative.

9:  These are some things we can all do, be prepared and fight back.  If drinking hot liquids and breathing hot air will kill this virus, then it makes sense, to me, that we should at least try it.  Everyone is fearful of saying the wrong things.  But sometimes saying something that could be of help is way better than silence.

10 Call and check on friends and family.  Let them know you are thinking of them, it will make it easier on everyone.  Remember, you are not alone in this.  Check out these maps of COVID-19:
